Dolphin Entertainment, founded in 1996 by President Bill O’Dowd, enjoys a solid reputation as both an Emmy-nominated producer and international distributor of quality television programming, specializing in the children’s and young adult markets. Mr. O'Dowd's experience spans wide genres of television, from movies and mini-series to sitcoms and drama series.
From 1996 through 1998, Mr. O'Dowd was the first producer based in Florida to receive a first-look deal with the production arm of a major U.S. network (ABC Pictures). Shortly thereafter, Mr. O'Dowd began working with several leading networks and production companies, in both America and Europe, to produce and/or structure financing for television programming. Such projects have aired on CBS, Nickelodeon, Turner, A+E, Lifetime, HBO, Showtime and other national networks.
In addition to the Emmy-nominated and top U.S.-rated Zoey 101, Dolphin's other recent Executive Producer credits include Nickelodeon hit series Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide and Nickelodeon's first-ever TV movies Shredderman Rules!, Last Day of Summer, and the Roxy Hunter television movie franchise.
Currently in production are
installments three and four of the Roxy Hunter franchise, as well as Nickelodeon first family primetime elevision movie Gym Teacher (starring Law & Order: SVU's Chris Meloni) and Nickelodeon's first-ever musical Spectacular!
Outside of children’s programming, Mr. O’Dowd teamed up with leading television writer Matt Dorff to create the thriller trilogy Island Heat, which premiered in summer 2006 on Lifetime with fantastic success. In 2007, Dolphin teamed up with Dorff again to produce Christmas in Paradise which premiered on December 15, 2007 to become Lifetime's highest-rated holiday film of the season.
Complementing its financing, production and distribution divisions, Dolphin has successfully launched an international merchandising and licensing group with Zoey 101 campaigns in Canada, Australia, and now Western Europe, with plans to expand into more than two dozen territories
Mr. O'Dowd graduated with honors from Harvard Law School, has received a master's degree in modern European history from Creighton University, and was named 1st-Team Academic All-American by USA Today while an undergraduate at Creighton.
